Scientists in water to fuel breakthrough
Hydrogen fuel cells burn hydrogen to release heat, which is then converted into energy. Water is the end product which makes it a clean way to produce energy.
Researchers have uncovered important details about chemical catalysts that use light to break apart water molecules, splitting them into hydrogen - for use as fuel - and oxygen. These findings will help researchers design photocatalysts that can operate at a range of temperatures, making the production of hydrogen fuel from water both cheaper and easier to control.
