Hide AdEvans faced a second charge under the Criminal Law Consolidation Act, which alleged he had a glass in a public place.
His lawyer James Kelly said Evans, who earned his first cap for Scotland against Canada in 2008 and also plays for Glasgow Warriors, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Sheriff Celia Sanderson granted Evans, of Clairmont Gardens, Glasgow, bail following the brief appearance on the conditions he does not go to Lulu Nightclub or approach or attempt to contact Mr McCaig.
Evans will have to return to court in January. He left court without comment.
