Road death drop hailed
In the last three years, deaths and serious injuries at camera sites nationwide was on average 68 per cent lower than before the technology was installed.
The annual report for 2011 showed that collisions involving personal injuries fell from 1054 to 547 at these sites.

Hide AdJulie Roy, manager of Lothian and Borders Safety Camera Partnership, said: “These figures show that the highly visible deterrent effect of safety cameras continues to make a crucial contribution to improving driving behaviour.”
Figures for Lothian and Borders showed that 375 adults were killed or seriously injured on roads between last April and March, down from 394.
