‘Remorseful’ drunk racist is fined £200
Livingston Sheriff Court was told that Craig Saunders insulted staff at Bathgate’s Kurry King in West Lothian because they refused payment by bank card.
Jobless Saunders, 27, from Bathgate, took exception to being asked for cash and began to shout and swear at the two members of staff. Saunders pleaded guilty to acting in a racially aggravated manner and causing alarm and offence.

Hide AdDonna Murphy, defending, said “He’s never come to the attention of the court before. He’s very remorseful and does regret his actions.”
Fining Saunders £200, Sheriff Douglas Kinloch told him: “People working in shops and so on shouldn’t have to put up with this type of behaviour.”
