Police use Polish-language Twitter appeal in Edinburgh murder case
Lothian and Borders Police are using the Twitter social media service in the hope of raising awareness about the crime, posting the message “Edinburgh murder victim identified in Dickson Street, Leith” in Lithuanian, Polish, and Russian.
The Edinburgh branch of the force also posted a link to a news item on its website in each of the three languages.

Hide AdLothian and Borders Police began tweeting 3 months ago, and has amassed 3,067 followers under the Twitter handle @LBP_Police.
A spokesman for the police said: “The reason we’re doing this is because we want to focus on the Eastern European community in Edinburgh. We’ve never done this before - it’s the first time we’ve tweeted in any foreign language, but we’ve had about 100 clicks across the langauge groups since this morning.”
