That very notion is scandalous enough, but the Corporation blatantly lied in its stated justification for it, claiming to have based it on the views of “best scientific experts”. They then refused to name these, spending tens of thousands to fight a Freedom of Information request.

Hide AdIt is now known that only three were scientists, none of great reputation, the rest being mainly journalists and renewables activists.
The inescapable conclusion must be that influence, financial or otherwise, from government or other backers, was also the trigger for this disgraceful departure from authorisation.
