Indiscriminate cull
Proper land management re-quires a plan for all aspects of wildlife, with clear objectives as to how to achieve this. It used to be a matter of pride to have good stags and bucks, and a healthy deer population living in harmony with the forest. To butcher animals indiscriminately out of season is not management.
As the hills become more open, with forest roads giving easier access to more remote walks, wildlife may replace the forests as the main attraction.
So, let us at least show some human dignity and manage these animals to the best advantage of us all.
