In an afternoon session, Israel was described as a "pariah state". In an evening session on "Can humanity ever transcend politics in the Middle East?" a Palestinan was included on the discussion panel, but no Israeli was to be seen. When asked why this was the case the chair, Allan Little, said he "would look into it."
If humanity is ever to transcend politics in the Middle East, then Israelis and Palestinans will have to start talking to each other.
Perhaps Edinburgh is not the best place to do this. This, after all,is the city of Arthur Conan Doyle. He knew all about the curious case of the dog that did not bark.
