Hide AdMs Campbell, 44, posted a tweet to social media site Twitter reading: “Congratulations malaria on your #noblepeaceprize #2014 #Respect #joy #ithalljuststarted’[sic].
The model had uploaded a photo to Instagram that she shared on her Twitter account. The image was of Malala Yousafzai, with the quote: “I speak not for myself but for those without a voice - those who have fought for their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated.”
The reaction to the tweet was predictable - one user said: “I think autocorrect ruined this tweet’ while another tweeted: “Ah the vagaries and caprices of Autocorrect. Haven’t we all suffered from its viciousness before too?”
Ms Campbell joins the likes of Labour leader Ed Miliband, who tweeted in January 2012: “Sad to hear that Bob Holness has died. A generation will remember him fondly from Blackbusters” before hastily redoing the tweet.
