Marines’ raid act ‘too risky’
Health and safety chiefs stopped a team of Marines from re-enacting a raid on Somalian pirates – claiming the exercise was “too dangerous”.
The soldiers, from HMS Montrose’s counter-piracy team, were forced to tone down their performance at the Military Tattoo, in which they were to recreate an incident where they “fast roped” on to a ship and won a firefight with pirates, it was reported today
Historic Scotland and the city council reportedly deemed the technique, which involves sliding down a rope without a harness, as too dangerous.
