Councillor claims ambulance provision in Lothians ‘left bare’
An ambulance and five members of staff were last month redeployed from Haddington Ambulance Station to Musselburgh 11 miles away following a review of demand.
One staff member, who spoke to the Evening News on condition he would not be named, claimed that there were occasions when it had taken ambulances more than half an hour to respond to emergency calls in the east – despite crews having a target response time of just eight minutes.

Hide AdDunbar councillor Michael Veitch, depute leader of East Lothian Council, has now written to the Scottish Ambulance Service to seek assurances.
He said: “I am genuinely intrigued as to what assessment has been made of response times.”
