Al-Qaeda group's hostages 'alive'
Niger's prime minister has said seven hostages taken last month from a mining town and held by al-Qaeda's North African affiliate are alive.
Mahamadou Danda told RFI radio: "The good news is they're alive and the mechanisms aimed at getting them out of there have been activated."
The hostages - including five French nationals - were kidnapped on 16 September.
