Watch: Top Scottish coronavirus professor spots elusive Edinburgh otter at play
Prof Sridhar had tweeted on December 1, 2020, saying how much she wanted to see an Otter and this morning her wish came true.
She said: “Apparently there are wild otters wandering around #Edinburgh. My December goal is to spot them”

Hide AdShe didn’t have to wait long to achieve her goal, as earlier today she tweeted her delight, sharing an adorable video she captured with all 216,200 of her followers.
She said: “Happy Tuesday! Spotted a playful otter today while getting outside. December goal achieved! New Guardian piece out soon on the new variant.”
Otters are a staple of Edinburgh wildlife and always attract a crowd when they come out to play.
Holyrood Park is a great place to spot the animals, this incredible video shows a playful otter swimming in a loch near Arthur’s Seat. During the clip it can be seen diving into the water before coming up and eating whatever it can find in the loch.
This shocking clip captures the moment an otter catches a pigeon near Arthur’s Seat. It can be seen grabbing a pigeon in its mouth before scurrying into the undergrowth with the bloodied bird in its jaws.
You can see yet another adorable clip here of two otters frolicking on the bank of the Union Canal in Fountainbridge, before one rolls over and falls in the water.
