5. River Almond
This trail is only half an hour away from the city by car, yet once you start walking you feel like you’re fully removed from the urban jungle and have entered a countryside dream. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of trees including oak, sycamore and beech.
Moredun Wood offers a pleasant and relaxed 1.6km walk along its picturesque route. It is part of the Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park nature reserve which is twice the size of Princes Street Gardens, meaning there is plenty to explore and discover in the area.
