Warning after fake vaccine email invites sent to Fife homes
Emails sent to random addresses contain a link to register for the jag as well as a request for bank details.
No such information is needed in order to get the vaccine.
Now, one of Fife’s leading health officials has urged people to be aware, and not be taken in by the scam.

She said she was “appalled and saddened” that people had stopped so low to con people “at time when many are very vulnerable , shielding and anxious.”
She added: “I am urging everyone to be vigilant and extra aware after a spike in scams as the vaccination programme is being rolled out.

“Criminals are using COVID-19 to target the public by tricking them to hand over cash or financial details.
“They are sending convincing looking text messages letting people know they are eligible for the vaccine or phoning people directly pretending to be from the NHS, or local pharmacy.
““NHS Scotland will never ask for or accept cash for vaccines, or ask for banking details or identity documents, or your email to arrange a Covid-19 vaccination or turn up at residences unannounced.”
COVID vaccinations are free, and NHS Scotland advises the public that local health boards will be in touch to arrange appointments.
