Seven schools under threat of closure
The schools – two secondaries and five primaries – have not been identified.
A report, due to be discussed by councillors later this month, also outlines proposals to increase class sizes in primary schools from 18 to 25 and to reduce the number of pupil support assistants in both primary and secondary schools by a third.

Hide AdThe document also states that the council would stand to save nearly £870,000 by closing the city’s 16 community libraries or save £700,000 with the closure of the music school.
The report, compiled by council officials, states: “A total of £28.3m of new savings have been identified for education, culture and sport services.”
