Sigma celebrates with maiden dividend
SIGMA, the Edinburgh-based private equity company, has declared a maiden dividend of 0.2p a, share after returning to profit in 2009.
The firm, which invests in property, green technology and university intellectual property, reported a 900,000 pre-tax profit for 2009, against a loss of 500,000 in 2008. It was boosted by the listing of Frontier IP, which commercialises university research, on the lightly regulated Plus Markets. The listing created a gain of 3.6 million to Sigma.
Chairman David Sigsworth said the results were "creditable", given the difficult trading conditions of 2009.
