All that glistens: Ortak assets sale
Branding specialists are predicting a “bidding war” among design and fashion houses after the assets of collapsed jewellery business Ortak were put on the market.
The Orkney-based firm was founded in the 1960s and grew to have an annual turnover of £7 million and 15 branded stores employing more than 150 staff. It fell into administration last year and the shops have closed.
Metis Partners, the Glasgow-based intellectual property firm, has been instructed to sell the remaining assets, which include trademarks, web names and a 25,000-strong customer database.
Ortak, which had been promoted by celebrities such as actress Kate Ford, pictured, and Myleene Klass, was also sold wholesale to retailers such as Argos and H Samuel.
