Ideal start for new coach as Scots beat France

GORDON Shepherd had the ideal baptism as new Scotland coach when he led his side to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over France in their opening encounter in the Celtic Cup in Nice.

Vikki Bunce celebrated her 100th cap by scoring from the spot and Laura Bartlett got the winner after France had scored.

The Scots must now win against Ireland to take the Celtic Cup for the fourth time in a row.

At home, Grange produced a surprise at Titwood with a single goal from Wei Adams beating Clydesdale.

Inverleith fell 7-2 to leaders Kelburne through doubles from Michael Bremner and Jonny Christie, Mark Ralph, Gareth Hall and Alan Forsyth also scoring. Callum Milne and John Martin replied late.
