Burnett last Scot standing as Foster fails
Foster played to his usual high, consistent standard in the opening set against Devon's Ian Bond, seeded 12, leading all the way to win 9-4. However he went walkabout in the second and despite holding Bond to 3-3 after five ends, lost a 1, 1, 2 and 1 to drop the set 8-2 and he also failed to score in the tie break and lost 2-0.
"Ian punished me, particularly in the second set. I was happy with my game in the first but in the second and then going into the tie break – quite honestly I was shocking. I wasn't in the set at all and was just hanging in with one bowl at times," a disappointed Foster confessed.
Today Burnett continues against Paisley-based Irishman Jonathan Ross where a win would give him a semi-final berth against qualifiers Tim Stone from England or Aussie Brett Wilkie tomorrow.
