Boxing: Bowhill generates heat

Neither the wintery conditions which saw snowbound Midlothian middleweight Scott Grant and coach Ally Quilleti unable to make the Bowhill venue for the Eastern championships, nor a broken down generator which deprived the Fife boxing hall of light and heat for two hours, could stop the heat subsequently generated by controversial ring calls.

Craigmillar's Scottish National 64kg champion Jason Easton's shock points loss to Dunfermline southpaw Callum Susans in their semi-final bout left Craigmillar club coach Kenny McCartney unimpressed.

"The points verdict against Easton was totally ridiculous," said McCartney."We respect Susans, but I had Jason winning on points."
