Supermarkets bag another success
THE number of single-use plastic bags given to supermarket customers has fallen for the fourth year.
The total number of bags handed out has dropped from 10.6 billion in 2006 to 6.1 billion in the year to May. It follows a drive by British Retail Consortium and supermarkets to cut single-bag use.
