Strategy set for approval

A NEW strategy for the city's "open space" is to be approved.

A consultation was carried out on the open space strategy and a final version is now expected to be given approval at a planning committee meeting later this week.

A total of 130 written responses were gathered.

Key changes as a result of the consultation responses included dropping cemeteries and 'green corridors" from what is defined as green space because they don't perform the role expected of large green spaces.

A joint report written by the council's director of services for communities Mark Turley and director of city development Dave Anderson said: "The strategy and action plans will be used to inform planning decisions and investment and management decisions. It is intended to monitor progress."
