Scottish Government set to reveal new Scottish independence Bill within six weeks

The Scottish Government intends to set out the timing and question of a second independence referendum within the next six weeks it has been revealed, with the move criticised by the Scottish Conservatives as “reckless”.

According to a report in the Sunday National, Constitution Secretary Michael Russell has said a draft bill paving the way for a second vote would be published before Holyrood goes into recess ahead of the May election.

The Bill had been announced by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon in the Programme for Government last September and Mr Russell said: “We said we would publish it before the Parliament rose and we will. It is a very simple bill, there is nothing complicated about it.
