Letter: Shaping up
Derrick McClure (Letters, 26th February) is correct in his assessment that Muirkirk is in better shape than Auchinleck, but I doubt that this is due to speaking a more upmarket brand of Scots. Proximity to the M74 might be a better explanation.
Pensioners may be happy to trail one of Scotland's most minor poets - and why not? - but I am sure that the young unemployed of Muirkirk would be better served with much more McAdam and a little less Lapraik. With the present state of our roads, wouldn't we all.
