Letter: Nationalist jibe

I HAVE no objection to unionists defending their beloved union. It has a lot of admirable features to boast about. What I object to is the negative and insulting statements made by a few of your correspondents.

Andrew Gray (Letters, 21 May) described people like myself who support the restoration of Scotland's national sovereignty as having been bitten by a rabid dog of nationalism. He also describes our union with England as a marriage of equal partners. It beggars belief that anyone can believe this. It is only by restoring Scotland's national sovereignty that we will ever have an equal relationship with England. I'm convinced this will be beneficial to both our nations.
