Don't knock it
The Fringe is an offshoot which has grown over the years, but why compare it with the main Festival?
Every day of the Festival the lieder, piano and chamber recitals are fully booked in the Queen's Hall because those of us who appreciate such sublime music have little chance of hearing these outside London. As for his criticism of Edinburgh audiences, we have very well-attended performances throughout the year of Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet, the RSNO the SCO, and excellent theatre productions.
Do your homework Mr Fry.
