Net gain for city's museums

A NEW website has been set up to promote all of Edinburgh's museums and galleries.

The city council has set up the site, www.edinburgh museums.org.uk, with funding from Museums Galleries Scotland.

It will promote events and exhibitions at the 13 venues run by the council's museums and galleries department.

The website includes information on the location, opening times, displays, learning materials and retail offering of each venue.

It is due to be formally launched in the autumn, although it is already live in a testing phase.

Jim Inch, the council's director of corporate services, said: "The new website has the aim of bringing more visitors to our museums and making our collections more accessible to members of the public."
