Gordon Dewar, managing director of Edinburgh Airport, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Star1 Airlines to Edinburgh airport. Lithuania is becoming an increasingly popular destination but has previously not been easy to get to from Scotland.

"As the UK's fastest-growing airport we're committed to expanding our route networks, providing more choice and lower fares for air travellers, and making Edinburgh better connected."

Martynas Laivys, head of Star1 Airlines, said: "Scotland's capital city is a fantastic destination and we are really excited to be providing what is the first direct scheduled route to Vilnius, another vibrant European city."
