Animal rescue centre issues rehoming plea

THE Scottish SPCA is appealing to animal lovers across the Lothians to consider rehoming a rescue pet.

The charity's Edinburgh & Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, which rehomed more than 900 animals last year, is now full to capacity, caring for a variety of animals including dogs, cats and rabbits.

Centre manager Diane Stewart said: "Our centre is absolutely full at the moment and we are desperate to find all of the animals loving new homes.

"We want to remind people that buying a new pet from a breeder or pet shop is not the only option. Many of our animals have had a tough start in life and deserve to be given a second chance.

"The Scottish SPCA never puts a healthy animal to sleep so all the animals in our centre will stay with us until we find them a new home.

"We would welcome anyone who is considering getting a new pet to come along to our centre to meet the animals."
