14 new council houses built

FOURTEEN new council houses have been added to the East Lothian stock as a £1.1 million building contract comes to an end.

The properties, all located in Tranent, were constructed by Balfour Square in nine months.

Cabinet member for housing, Councillor Stuart Currie, said: "I'm delighted to see the construction process finish ahead of schedule. We have around 1200 people hoping for a council home in Tranent, and only 1100 properties, so new build council development is sorely needed."
