Drug deaths Scotland: Site for Glasgow consumption room identified

A site close to the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow has been proposed for the UK’s first legal consumption room.

The proposed location for the facility is situated between a car park for the Glasgow Pram Centre and a train line on Hunter Street in the east end of Glasgow.

A sign outside the building reads: "Enhanced Drug Treatment Service, Glasgow alcohol and drugs recovery services."

The UK Government has said it will not intervene in the plans for a pilot drug consumption room, clearing the way for Scottish ministers to press ahead with the proposed Glasgow facility.
