Distilleries raise a glass to green credentials
The site, along with Oban Distillery in Argyll & Bute and Dalwhinnie in the Highlands, are the first to receive Gold accreditation and were recognised for their efforts across a range of criteria, including environmental quality, waste management and community participation. All three distilleries are owned by drinks giant Diageo.
Derek Robertson, head of Keep Scotland Beautiful, with Glenkinchie manager Ramsay Borthwick, pictured, said: “Diageo has set the bar high with its company-wide ambitious sustainability targets.”
Borthwick accepted the award on behalf of the three distilleries.
Diageo has seen a 13 per cent annual rise in visitor numbers across its 12 distillery visitor centres.
